E! taps Plunkett for brand new scripted division

PlunkettE! makes a vital hire in the bid to produce scripted entertainment, tapping former ABC Entertainment professional Kevin Plunkett as senior veep of scripted programming. Plunkett most lately spent 6 1/24 months as SVP of comedy development at ABC Galleries and formerly capped current comedy in the Alphabet internet. He's also had development and programming positions with Vital TV, ABC Family and Disney Funnel. "It's very exciting for people at E! to go in this new programming genre, and that we realize that Kevin may be the right person to guide the charge," stated E! programming prexy Lisa Berger, to whom Plunkett will report. "He's both experience and also the creative vision that can help us establish and make an excellent scripted programming initiative that's distinctively customized to attract the E! audience." Suzanne Kolb, who had been formally named leader of E! in This summer, told Variety at that time that E! would aim to add scripted shows towards the network, less "a rapid left turn" but being an evolution.
